Best performing global stock markets.

Global stock markets found their lows on March 2009. Most of them have bottomed on 9th of March and since them time we could see really strong rebound. Which is in case of US indices the strongest n history. For example Ukraine PFTS index has gained 67% and has became number one followed by Puerto Rico, Romania and Peru with more or less 50% gains. Some emerging markets didn't participated this strong March and April rally like Bermuda, Ghana, Ecuador and turned to negative.
Let's have a look to the longer horizon. Year-to-date (YTD) actually reflects also Q1 performance. And here is the ranking for the best performing stock markets:
1. Peru 45%
2. China 39%
3. Pakistan 30%
4. Taiwan 30%
5. Israel 29%
Chinese Shanghai Composite has bottom already in 2008 and not surprisingly is among leading indices. Peru Lima General Index was the best performing index before financial crisis and economic recession started.
Laggards are following:
1. Bermuda -41%
2. Costa Rica -38%
3. Nigeria -37%
4. Iceland -36%
5. Puerto Rico -34%
As a benchmark with US it is useful to point out that S&P 500 Index is down around 5% YTD.
